Abstract

Examination of sections in Touraine, the Aquitaine, Dieulefit (Drôme), and Beausset war) Basins in France together with a restudy of museum collections provides a basis for the subdivision of the Coniacian stage into a Lower Coniacian Forresteria (Harleites) petrocoriensis Zone, Middle Coniacian Peroniceras (Peroniceras) tridorsatum Zone, and Upper Coniacian Gauthiericeras margae Zone below and Paratexanites serratomarginatus Zone above.
