Abstract

Three species of Mariopteris are described from Stephanian B-C rocks in North-west Spain. The record is based only on five specimens, but it proves that Mariopteris was by no means extinct by Lower Stephanian times, as so often has been stated in the literature. The validity of the genus Pseudomariopteris is questioned.
