Abstract

The Lower Greensand serpulids of southern England are revised and the faunas from Faringdon. Oxfordshire, Upware, Cambridgeshire, Brickhill, Buckinghamshire, the Wealden region, and the Isle of Wight are compared. A new genus, Propomaloceros, is proposed for Cretaceous tubes hitherto assigned to Pomatocerox Philippi and the following new species are described; Propomatoceros salcicarinaia, P. keepingi, P. gracilis, P. denlaia, Mucroserpula nitida, Proliserpula faringdonensis, Fluclimluria sharpei, Parsimonia upwarensis, and Genicularia (Glandifera) inornala. The classification of the Serpulidae is discussed.
