Future Meeting: Geochemical-Palaeobiological Interactions Throughout Earth History - Session SSP4.4 at EGU

Meeting Date: Sunday, April 8, 2018 to Friday, April 13, 2018
Location: Vienna, Austria
Organisers: Jack Matthews, Charlotte Kenchington, Sean McMahon
Contact Email: jjmatthews@mun.ca

Description

This session invites contributions that investigate geochemical patterns and processes associated with the origin, evolution and preservation of the biosphere throughout Earth history. Relevant work may include evaluations of environmental chemistry linked to biotic innovations or turnovers, biomarker studies that reveal evolutionary information, microfossil analyses that elucidate palaeo-biogeochemical conditions, reconstructions of ancient nutrient cycles, and innovative geochemical analyses of palaeontological sites, assemblages, and specimens that open new windows on the history of life. The session will highlight the importance of interdisciplinary geobiological thinking, and bring together a broad range of researchers using geochemical techniques to understand palaeobiology, from the origin of life to the Quaternary. Contributions are encouraged from researchers at all stages of their careers.
