Project Description

Applications are invited for one 75% PhD position (TV-L E13) available at the Faculty of Geosciences, University of Bremen (Germany).
The Geoscience Collection belonging to the Faculty of Geosciences, University of Bremen is offering a PhD position in the area of invertebrate paleontology as part of the project "The Anisian (Middle Triassic) Ammonoids of Nevada - An Integrated Approach to Understand Morphological Change". The project is funded by the German Research Foundation (Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft) for 3 years and offers a TV-L E13 (75%) salary.

The successful candidate will perform a study within the project outlined above. An investigation of the shell morphology of ammonoids is expected as well as other studies in the surroundings of the project. This is a strongly field-based project and thus extensive fieldwork is planned in mountainous parts of Nevada. Co-organization and realization of the fieldwork is required. We are searching for an enthusiastic and dynamic researcher with a strong interest in invertebrate paleontology and beyond.

Required qualifications:
• Completed MSc degree or equivalent preferentially in geoscience, physical geography, environmental sciences or related fields.
• Experience in invertebrate paleontology is required.
• Experience in laboratory work, chemical and sedimentological analytical techniques and a strong quantitative/statistical background is of advantage.
• Applicants should have excellent English language skills; enjoy working in an international and interdisciplinary environment. Russian language skills are of advantage.
