Description

The European Association of Vertebrate Palaeontologists (EAVP) promotes annual international meetings for an interchange of research in all subfields of vertebrate palaeontology in a European location. A major focus is the fostering of international collaboration, paying great attention to the encouragement and assistance for students to become part of projects and a source of future vertebrate palaeontologists.

From 1-3 August 2017 the 15th annual meeting of the EAVP will be held in Munich, Germany, at the Palaeontological Museum hosted by the GeoBio-Center of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München. Pre-meeting workshops as well as a two-day field trip will frame the event. Overall, Munich will provide a unique conference environment since vertebrate palaeontology has more than a 200 year-long tradition at Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München and the Bavarian State Collections of Natural History. Fossils coming from world famous sites in southern Germany had a tremendous impact on evolutionary sciences in general (e.g.. Archaeopteryx) and knowledge of the evolution of certain vertebrate groups (e.g., mammals, pterosaurs).
